St George’s Market isn’t just famous in Belfast, it’s famous throughout the UK.

It has won numerous awards, both for its food and its facilities, and, following its extensive refurbishment in the late nineties; it’s regarded as one of the main attractions in Belfast.

If you’ve never been to St George’s Market you might be forgiven for thinking that a food market is just a food market. While St George’s Market is clearly among the very best food markets in the country, let alone in Belfast, it’s so much more.

There aren’t many food markets that can offer quite the same blend of sumptuous locally sourced produce and international delicacies.

There aren’t many markets of any description that can satisfy the gastronomes and the general shoppers alike.

St George’s Market caters for the most discerning shoppers in Belfast, whether they’re shopping for sea bass or searching for an on-site massage.

How many markets can provide all this:

  • Friday food market – featuring around 250 food market stalls – the fish section alone boasts over twenty different stalls!
  • Saturday food market – the gourmet food market spectacular – go and get your taste buds well and truly piqued!
  • All manner of non food related stalls – (more than most regular markets let alone most food markets!)
  • Products and services at St George’s Market range from antiques to hardware; arts and crafts to clothes and much more besides…

On site musicians to serenade you as you shop!

St George’s Market is surely Belfast’s favourite food market.

There’s even a free shuttle bus service to get you there and back.

Just as well; once you’ve discovered what Saint Georges Market has to offer you’ll certainly have need of it!

St George’s Market:

More of everything you want from a market!

Product, people and place arefriendly, quality and professional. I havenʼt been to a market in years but will try to go every week from now on. This is the most enjoyable shopping I have done in years. It beats conventional shopping by a mile and meeting the different people and experiencing the whole atmosphere mad it a very pleasant day.

Saturday food market is a must for a tasty brunch or lunch ! I couldnʼt recommend an individual stall as all tasty, but you can have farm fresh sausage baps, fresh pasta and sauce, mexican, indonesian, Crepes, paella, even Japanese ! And whilst trying to decide local musicians will serenade you and you can meet all sorts of Belfast characters selling their arts and crafts !

I go St Georges Market on a Friday morning for seafood, the fish and langoustines are really fresh and the traders give good tips on how to cook it

Whether you live in Belfast or just visiting St Georgeʼs Market is a must. Its nowhere near as big as the marketʼs on the Continent but for an insight into Belfast market traders its reason enough to go. The fresh fish, organic meat and fruit and veg are second to none. My advice is to make an effort to go.
