Restaurants in Bath don’t come any finer than The Dower House where head chefs Mark Brega and Gordon Jones and their brigade work closely to develop the synthesis of innovative cuisine within this rich architectural setting.

The Dower House is The Royal Crescent Hotel's award-winning restaurant and one of the finest restaurants in Bath, if not the finest restaurant and is open to both house guests and non-residents for fine dining.

The menu at The Dower House restaurant changes with the seasons to match the climate and to make best use of the very finest fresh ingredients. The cellar, expertly managed by sommelier Jean Marc Leitao, complements the menus. Click here to view the menu in the restaurant.  Click here to view the wine list.

The Dower House is a light and airy restaurant, overlooking the hotel's captivating private gardens. In the summer months, the sunny terrace and manicured lawns make the perfect setting for idyllic al fresco dining. In fact, there is nowhere else in Bath more pleasurable for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea or a quiet drink in the evening than the hotel's stunning gardens.

Fine dining outside the restaurant is also possible. A number of individually designed rooms, are available for exclusive use. If you're seeking a very special venue in which to host a family occasion or a business gathering, then look no further than the stunning private rooms of the The Royal Crescent Hotel.

Non residents are welcome in the restaurant for lunch or dinner. However, booking is essential. Breakfast and afternoon teas are also served in The Dower House Restaurant.

"If you’re really treating yourself, you should book yourself a table at The Royal Crescent’s Dower House restaurant. It’s surely the best place to have dinner in the city, with food that is innovative without being gimmicky, an impressive cellar and knowledgeable staff..." The Pink Paper (April 2007)

The restaurant has an entry in the Good Food Guide 2007 for the 26th year, under its previous name, Pimpernel’s, with chef’s cooking described as “refined” and “luxurious”.

Congratulations to the team at Dower House for our most excellent experience at your restaurant. The evening was a post wedding treat for my husband and I and we really did have to push the boat out to afford to come to you. However, we can, without any hesitation, say it was very definitely worth the extravagance. We absolutely loved every minute of the whole experience and really feel it was very well worth it. The service we received was without fault and delivered at a very well judged and personal understanding of our needs as individual customers. We were made to feel very welcome, comfortable and pampered by everyone from the moment we walked in until we left (very reluctantly!). The menu and wine list was fantastic and we were both very pleased with our choices. It is clear that you favour very good ingredients and even more so that they are cooked to such a highly skilled level. It was all so delicious! We also loved the little special touches like the beautiful translucent potato crisp on top of the rabbit rillette and all the unexpected extra little courses.

My wife and I would like to record our appreciation of the service provided during our stay at the Royal Crescent Hotel last Friday night, in particular we would like to highlight the manner in which Mark and Grant ensured that our small requests were quickly and efficiently dealt with. We had guests joining us for dinner and when I discovered that un-priced menus were not available I was very pleased to be advised by the restaurant manager that they would be printed especially for our guests. The dinner was superb and enjoyed by all. It was very nice to be upgraded to a suite, this just added to a pleasant and relaxing stay.

Where do I start as my luncheon last Sunday was such a success and the RCH was a real star. Although it is unfair to single out particular players as so many people were involved, I would like to especially thank Lauren, Jose and Anne, whilst Sharon and the reception crew were very patient with all my last minute changes. So often the kitchen team goes un-noticed, but Steven and the crew produced a truly superb meal. The fish course was delicious whilst the beef just melted in the mouth.

I can’t tell you how pleased everyone was with the dinner… the setting, the food, the service… everything was perfect! The service was of the highest standard we’ve encountered in quite a while… extremely efficient but very discreet and unobtrusive. The food was absolutely superb and our thanks again for the flexibility with the menu. The hotel and restaurant were beautiful… the photos on your site could never have done justice to the decoration and lighting on the night! There wasn’t one complaint from a group composed of SIX different nationalities, everyone was impressed and happy! I will be recommending The Royal Crescent Hotel very highly.

I want to thank the staff at the Royal Crescent for the superb lunch you arranged. The food, wine, service and the room itself were first class. Everyone in our party had a great time and commented on just how wonderful everything was.
