Restaurants – Bistros and Bars in Bath: Green Park Brasserie.
The Green Park brasserie is a bistro and bar located close to the centre of Bath. It occupies the old booking hall of Green Park Station, built by the Midland Railway in 1870. Green Park brasserie is located within a quarter of a mile of Bath city centre and has the useful facility of an hour and a half's free parking during the day and without time constraint in the evening – something which is becoming increasingly uncommon in Bath!
The bistro and bar give professional yet informal service and is dedicated to providing a range of high quality food and wine. The brasserie has a warm, friendly and lively atmosphere and ambience.
In the morning at 10, the brasserie opens for coffee, cakes and Paninis. The lunch menu is served from 12 to 2.45 and offers a greater range of food. The brasserie menu has a wide range of choices from local organic beef burgers to salads and specials. The brasserie continues to be open throughout the afternoon for drinks, Paninis and beverages. Between 6pm to 7pm a fixed price menu offers great value with three or more choices per course and the à la carte ensures there is a wide range of dishes. There is always a choice of dishes for vegetarians.
The bar stocks a number of good beers including the locally renowned Butcombe beer, San Miguel and some of the best bottled beers. A good selection of reasonably priced wine is also available to be enjoyed by the patrons of Green Park brasserie.
The area which was originally the station library has been converted into an Internet Café. The computers with high-speed internet access provide a useful resource to customers. People can surf the net and email their friends, all in the relaxed atmosphere of the brasserie. This service has found to be popular with both tourists visiting the City of Bath and residents alike.
The brasserie has two venues to cater for both private and company functions. Firstly, in the building, they can cater for up to 120 people inside or up to 180 people using the undercover area on the station side, with or without a marquee extension. Secondly, they are able to use the Bath Society Meeting Room above the brasserie, which can accommodate a maximum of 150 people.
The brasserie caters for around 15 weddings each year and each one is different, tailored to the couple's particular requirements. A license is held to permit the use of the Bath Society meeting room as a venue for Wedding ceremonies. At the brasserie, they can cater for formal sit down receptions for up to 90, fork and finger buffets for up to 150, and full on parties with band, disco or both.
Green Park brasserie has a strong dedication to jazz, and it's often performed live in the brasserie. This adds to the peaceful experience which fits in with the restaurant and its atmosphere.
