Gill Lewis & Jeff Davies-Tuck started GJ Care in 2006 in Barry, with the aim of providing a much higher standard of home care service than they had previously witnessed in their substantial experience working in the care industry. Gill has over 26 years experience with both Social Services & private sector companies & Jeff has been working in private mental health residences & large EMI care homes in both supervisory & therapeutic roles for over 10 years.

GJ Care is registered with the Care Standards Inspectorate For Wales.
Services provided by GJ Care
We provide care and support to any person over the age of 18 - ranging from the young, physically disabled client to the frail elderly who wish to remain in the comfort of their own homes. We have experience in providing care to clients with mental health issues & also have specialist experience in the care of those suffering from Alzheimer's, MS & dementia. The central principles of our care provision are the rights & dignity of our service users.

We endeavour to provide the services you require at the times you require them & consequently CJ Care operates home help 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, with our management team available at all times.

Quality Assurance
To ensure that we deliver the best possible care to our clients we carry out various assessments & reviews:
- Needs Assessment - carried out prior to the start of your care package, (then as & when required during the contract) to listen to your wishes and to compile an individual care plan to meet your particular needs.
- Risk Assessments - carried out at the start of every care package & reviewed at least annually or as & when required during the contract. (This is a statutory requirement & is designed to ensure a safe working environment.)
- Manual Handling Assessment - statutory requirement when any form of manual handling is to be carried out by carers.
Your care needs will then be carefully matched with the skills of an experienced carer, taking into account personalities and shared interests. Once home help is in place we will continue to give support to both clients & carers by regular updates & visits.
Assessments & reassessments of care provision are free of charge & are carried out by Senior Managers or qualified senior member of staff. The number one priority of GJ Care is the safety & well-being of both our clients and our carers.
GJ Care Staff.
We recognise that for most of our clients the most important people in our company are the home care assistants and so we take particular care in selecting our staff & ensure that they undergo extensive training.
All our care assistants at GJ Care:
- Have completed an Enhanced CRB Check.
- Are trained in Moving & Handling, Personal Care, Food Hygiene & First Aid.
- Are personally interviewed with at least two written references.
Client Reviews.
We carry out customer surveys every 3 months to assess the standard of care we provide & to raise those standards ever higher. (All surveys are held on file for Care Standards inspection & other regulatory processes.)
Cost.
Clients may fund their care privately, or if unable to do so, financial assisstance from social services may be available. The costs of our care provision vary from client to client, depending on their particular needs. An individual quote is produced prior to the start of any care package.
