BGas of Barnsley run gas training programmes and employee development programmes to help develop the skills and knowledge trainees need in order to find employment and progress within the gas industry.
Over a number of years, BGas has helped a high percentage of students find work quickly and easily - and because our team of tutors are at the forefront of training and development for the gas industry, we've also been selected to work on a number of pilot schemes to establish new, vocational qualifications.

Our gas training programmes and all our training courses are designed to build the skills needed to work safely and effectively within the gas industry - and to ensure that candidates can successfully complete the two day CCN1 assessment.
Our CCN1 & MET1 14 week course has been running for more than five years, and has helped well over 600 trainees start employment within the gas industry.
The training course is split into 15 core competencies and candidates receive both practical and theory assessment. All trainees will complete a portfolio during their studies - and have access to comprehensive reference materials such as British Standards and the Gas Installation and Use Regulations.
What does the 14 week gas training programme involve?
The course covers Core Gas Safety and also includes working towards one appliance assessment. Currently, this is MET1, which qualifies the successful candidate to work on domestic gas meters.
The 12 week training and development programme covers meter fitting and candidates have access to a wealth of practical experience.
The gas training programme is run over 4 days each week at our training centre in Barnsley.

Electrical training and development, employee development and workplace training - from BGas of Barnsley
We run training and development programmes to help candidates build on their skills gained through practical experience within the electrical industry.
We offer:
A three day course to help experienced operatives issue domestic only inspection reports.
PAT testing - for the workplace.
Part P of the Building Regulations - to enable successful candidates work on domestic electrics, including component change, lighting and power circuits (required by Building Control and CORGI).

The Approved Prior Learning Course (APL)
Aimed at people who are currently working within the gas and plumbing industries but who have no formal qualifications, the APL Course run by BGas of Barnsley encourages trainees to gather evidence from current or past work situations and build a portfolio of experience.
We can offer two week gas safety training courses or three week gas safety training courses - or for candidates with an existing portfolio, an intensive one week gas safety training and development programme which includes refresher training on ventilation, combustion and other modules.
