This is a great gift shop - for years I would buy my Terrimundis here before other places had ever heard of them. They have the unusual which is great for gifts and this is where the smaller, personal shop trumps the big stores any day.

This is a wonderful place to seek out the essential coordinates for a really useful wardrobe. Everything seems to mix and match without effort, and the clothes are of superb quality. The service is indulgent and personal without a hint of obsequiousness. Thereʼs no greater treat than shopping (or even just browsing) at Blondieʼs.

For the Love of Cake

Coffee shop or cake shop? This place is both and the quality of its products is outstanding. Itʼs easy to walk past this little cafe and not notice it but if you do make the effort to find it you will be rewarded. The cakes are made at their own little factory and are amongst the best you will ever taste. If you like carrot cake, try it here - you will never buy it from a supermarket ever again. The Faitrade coffee tastes great especially when its served by the very friendly manageress.

I donʼt have access to enough superlatives to describe my dining experience at 1861. It exceeded my expectations in every way. The service was welcoming without gush, discreet without any sense of abandonment, and the food was adventurous and yet reassuringly familiar, delicately presented but still hearty. A real find - if you havenʼt tried 1861 yet, the time to do so is now! And if you like a refreshing dessert course, I can highly recommend the blood orange terrine with passion fruit sorbet - superb.

Best beds most comfortable did not want to get up. Exceptionally clean. Breakfast is to die for, all produce organic and fresh, i would return to abergavenny just to taste the breakfast at Ty Llew. The family gave the best of welsh welcome i have ever had and nothing is too much trouble. Make sure you check this B&B out!

Auberge

Not all bars can do themselves justice during the day – some are simply too shabby to be enjoyed unless under cover of darkness. Auberge is no such establishment; itʼs always clean and bright, and a really pleasant place to stop for a light lunch or coffee and cake. I particularly like the contemporary artwork and styling, the comfy sofas and the fact that a selection of good newspapers is provided. By night, especially at weekends, this is a throbbing trendy meeting point, bursting at the seams – no further testimonial is needed!
